The beds in our room were very, very soft, and the pillow was much too thin. Those were the only two things that kept the stay from being perfect. Still, it’s good value, and next time we’ll stay at Sol e Mar. The kitchen staff were polite and helpful. I’m very picky about accommodation, so I was pleasantly surprised by how cozy the guesthouse was. We were shown to room 205 on the second floor. It’s a small place, I think with eight rooms in all, but that didn’t bother us. The room had a mezzanine with two single beds, a TV, and air conditioning. Cleaning was fairly good, with just a few small details that didn’t affect our stay. Breakfast was simple but did the job. I only missed the cheese bread.

The one thing to watch out for is the spiral staircase. It felt a bit risky going down, especially in the dark, so keep that in mind if you’re booked into a two-level room. My stay at Sol e Mar was positive otherwise. The staff were very good and sorted things out without fuss. The room was comfortable and well kept, and breakfast was nice, with what we needed before heading out on our trips.

We had a fantastic stay. The guesthouse staff were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was more than complete, and everything was impeccably clean. It’s easy to get to and close to Paraty’s best beaches.
