Pousada Sol Nascente

Top, top.

The location is great, and the staff are kind and polite. The bed and bath linens were spotless. Some small things in the rooms need maintenance, like the latches, shower, and mirror. Nothing that seriously spoiled the stay, though it was a little annoying.

The staff were fantastic, really nice and helpful, but the condition of the guesthouse was poor for what they charge, close to unsanitary. We stayed in two different rooms as a group of five, and the same problems turned up in both, so this seemed like a general lack of maintenance. We found a badly rusted mini-fridge, torn pillowcases and stained sheets, old grout falling off the walls, a TV off its mount, and a light that never went fully dark, leaving an irritating glow when we were trying to sleep. It feels like a real disregard for guests to offer rooms in this condition. The photos I attached show what it was like. The team’s kindness can’t make up for the lack of investment and care for the place. I wouldn’t recommend staying until it gets a major renovation.

The room was spacious and had a little balcony, a mini-fridge, a small sideboard, a wardrobe, and a bedside table. There was both air conditioning and a ceiling fan, and both were very quiet. The mattress was very soft but comfortable, and the pillow was really good. Everything was impeccably clean. The bathroom was fine, with a shower enclosure and plenty of water pressure.
