Praieiro Hostel Albergue

The owner was really friendly and helpful, and gave us lots of tips about places to visit. We ended up staying an extra day, even though we’d originally planned just one, and the Wi-Fi worked very well the whole time. It’s a great stay for the price, and my husband and I will come back. The old mansion is well located. The facilities are basic, but there’s good natural light and ventilation, a powerful fan, and comfortable beds. Bedding, towels, and pillows were provided. The private bathrooms are simple, with ceramic floors. We did hear some noise from other rooms, and there was some mold and dust. Guests can use a fully equipped kitchen with tables, chairs, a stove, a fridge, and plenty of utensils.

This is a boarding house, not a hotel or pousada. The low price should tell you not to expect a good stay. I wouldn’t bring a family here. It’s more for someone passing through alone, just needing to sleep and leave early the next day. The place looked like the photos, but it was somewhat messy when we went. The beds were dirty, there was other people’s trash in the bathroom, there was no mirror, the fans were dirty, and it was very noisy. In short, a really bad experience.

Everything was awful. The place was in no condition to stay in, and it was the lowest-quality accommodation I’ve ever seen. Everything was old and dirty, and the bathroom was worse than any bus station bathroom. This place shouldn’t be advertised anymore.

We booked a private room, but when we arrived the host put us in a room with six people, treating us like animals. He was extremely disrespectful, wouldn’t accept us asking for the private room we’d booked, mocked people, and got very angry. The facilities were about as bad as they could be: no cleanliness at all, the house falling apart, lots of makeshift fixes, exposed wires, dirty bedding and mattresses, leaks, and dirty bathrooms. There were even bats in the house. He simply told us, “This is what we have for today,” and tried to force us to stay in a crowded room. He was rude and stressed. He books the same room for multiple people, and when more guests arrive, he tries to kick you out and put you somewhere else. I don’t recommend it.
