The second room still had a window that let mosquitoes in, and there was no hot water, so I ended up with cold showers and bugs. I’d already had to change rooms on the first night because the bathroom window in the original room had no seal. It felt like camping in a hotel, and unfortunately the stay was a bad experience.

Every day the shower water was cold, and nothing was done about it. The cockroach in the bathroom on our first day was another shock. I complained and sent photos, but the receptionist said she couldn’t see it, even after I sent more than three pictures. She eventually offered us another room until the next day, then said we could return after the room was cleaned. I told her we wouldn’t be going back and would stay in the other room. I’d chosen not to stay with my family so I wouldn’t burden them and so my husband, visiting Brazil for the first time, could be more comfortable. It was a huge disappointment.

We really enjoyed our stay. The place felt welcoming and pleasant, and breakfast was really tasty.
