Hotel Dallas - Penha SC

The location worked well for us, close to the park, about a 15-20 minute walk. Breakfast was good, and the hotel’s lunch and dinner were tasty and fairly priced. We were also able to get a room change promptly when we reported a strong sewer smell coming from the first room’s return vent, and the shower issue was fixed quickly after we mentioned it. We were welcomed warmly when we arrived, but the message we got at night about our car was what really upset us. The reservations center said it was parked illegally and threatened to call the police to have it towed. When we went down to check, it was parked properly, though a small part of the rear was in the restaurant owner’s way as she tried to put up an advertising sign. A simple, polite request to move the car forward a little would have sorted it out. We felt the message showed poor judgment.

The location was the only good part of our stay. We came as a group of 20, and nobody liked the inn. Check-in felt cold: they took our names, handed over the keys, and pointed out the stairs to the rooms. The rooms were basic, which was fine, but every one seemed to have an issue. Mine faced the back, with its only ventilation window looking onto a parking lot where a floodlight stayed on all night. There were no blackout curtains, so the room remained bright. Some people in our group asked to change rooms because theirs smelled musty. Others were in a room meant for four where there was barely space to move around. Breakfast was very basic and seemed to include food from the day before. Cake left over one day was served again the next, and the papaya already tasted sour on the first morning. They also charged for disposable cups or cutlery. Even after buying a 1.5-liter bottle of water for R$12.00, you didn’t get a cup unless you paid for one.

The included breakfast was tasty, and the variety surprised me. They also have lunch and snack options for an extra charge, which I liked. The park is very close, and I walked there and back. It’s a simple hotel, but it covers the essentials well. The rooms and hotel were clean, the staff polite, the air conditioning worked well, and the bathroom, towels, and bedding were clean too. There’s a minibar and TV. Great value for the money!

The location is excellent, about a five-minute walk from Beto Carrero World. I stayed in room 101 at Hotel Dallas, which in practice works more like an inn. It was a good suite-style room, and the cleaning was OK over the three days. Two other families with us had smaller rooms and dealt with a strong sewer smell in the bathroom. Breakfast was disappointing, with little variety, the same choices each day, and weak coffee. Lunch and dinner are available at the inn, but the food is simple, with few options and little seasoning. The stay was OK overall, though there’s room to improve.
