Pousada Solar da Penha

There’s plenty nearby, including a bakery, pharmacy, and all kinds of places to eat, so we didn’t need to move the car from the parking lot. The beach is about 300 m away, and there’s also a shared microwave available. We were welcomed very well and will keep coming back. Our room was clean and organized, the beds were comfortable, the air conditioning cooled well, and the minibar was spotless. Towels and bed linen were provided. Good value for money.

Fine for an overnight stay, and I got a reasonable price through Booking. There’s no breakfast. The parking area is open, with no gate, so anyone walking by on the street could come in.

The rooms were nicely arranged and the mattress was wonderful. There’s no breakfast, but that seems fair for the price. My only issue was a delay getting the invoice because only one guy on the night shift handled it, and I had to keep asking. Otherwise, the stay was excellent.

The room itself was clean, organized, and comfortable, so I think I might return, but there were several problems. We booked and paid for three people, yet there was only one tiny soap, one bath towel, no face towel in the bathroom, one blanket, and two pillows. The attendant seemed unenthusiastic, as if having a customer there was a favor. Parking was so difficult you’d think you needed the drivers from the Beto Carrero car show to park. The air conditioning didn’t work, and all the bathroom fixtures were loose, so it was hard to tell whether the water was hot or cold. The bathroom window was broken and wouldn’t stay open, leaving steam to fill the room. Why didn’t I complain? It shouldn’t be the guest’s job to ask for what they booked. The establishment should check everything that was paid for before handing over the keys.
