Hostel & Pousada Pérolas do Atlântico

I wouldn’t recommend this place. I booked through Booking for Carnival, but when we arrived, we rang the bell for about ten minutes and nobody came out. A woman eventually appeared and was really rude. She said there was no reservation, then, after we showed her the Booking confirmation, said the pousada had changed its name and the price was higher. She told me I could cancel if I wanted. It actually turned out to be a good thing that this happened, since I later saw dozens of people reporting the same problem. The accommodation itself looked awful too. From the photos in Google reviews, the place looked disgusting. My family and I could have had our Carnival ruined.

When you see bad reviews, believe them, it really is bad 😡. The staff seemed completely unprepared to deal with guests. The employee didn’t know how to welcome people, spoke loudly, swore, picked fights, and made sure other guests could hear her. We complained because there was a sign saying loud music wasn’t allowed, and she told us to turn ours off, then talked badly about us. The cleaning was poor too. In the four days we were there, the house was cleaned once, and I only saw the bathroom washed once. Nobody asked if we wanted the floor swept in our rooms. I know it’s a hostel, but a little courtesy matters. I ran into a cockroach on the sink as soon as I arrived. Since we used the bathroom late, she complained that we needed to clean it because she’d already done so. We also had to pay extra to use the kitchen, it wasn’t included in the nightly rate, and the faucet wouldn’t shut off. The employee Ana went out to a club and left us in charge of the pousada, while Julia, who said she was the manager, spoke to us by phone. When we mentioned the sign, Julia asked Ana where it was, so even she didn’t know about it. We didn’t see the employee at checkout either. Neither my family nor I would ever come back, and I can’t recommend the place. I hope the people actually responsible read the reviews and make sure guests are welcomed properly. I’m really disappointed.

Warning ⚠️ Maísa is a scammer, as far as I’m concerned. I left a deposit with her after a friend of my father said she was trustworthy. Five days later, she said the pool pump had burst and asked everyone with a reservation to send the rest of the payment to help buy a replacement, supposedly costing 3,000 reais. That sounded suspicious, so I realized it was a scam. I asked for my money back and she blocked me. Don’t book anything with this woman.

It’s a simple pousada, and the bathroom is shared. The price is low, so don’t expect luxury. It’s close to the beach, the place was fine, and I had no trouble with the staff. I was only staying one night to sleep, so I don’t have anything to complain about.
