Columbia Palace

The breakfast was very basic, and for what it costs, I don't think this place is worth it. It's quite simple, with an old building that looks like it hasn't been renovated in a long time. I walk a lot, and I'll be coming back to the city, but I'll look for somewhere else to stay.

For what they offer, the stay ought to cost less. I didn't find anything sophisticated about the place, and the beds, especially the single ones, were disappointing. They felt like crates with a thin mattress. Breakfast was basic too. It seems to be an old hotel that needs a serious renovation.

The only thing that really stood out in a good way was the man on the night reception shift, who also helps at breakfast. He was very kind and polite. The breakfast was weak, though they try their best, and at least there was enough to keep you from going hungry. The atmosphere felt depressing, and the walls could use paint, the windows need cleaning, and the curtains should be decent. We got one bath towel and one floor towel. In apartment 64, the air conditioner sounded like a malfunctioning airplane turbine. It was a choice between sweating and getting enough quiet to sleep, or turning it on and having what felt like a helicopter in the room. Sleeping felt like a luxury. When I booked, the guy said he only had a luxury apartment left, haha, so I can only imagine the simpler ones. I had no alternative because other hotels nearby were full, so it was okay for one night, but I don't recommend it.

The staff try their best, but in my case I had to choose between heat and enough quiet to sleep, or cooling the room with a noise like a helicopter inside. The furniture and bathroom floor looked very old, from the 80s, and the walls need at least a coat of paint. I don't recommend it and won't return.
