Pousada Xalés de Maracaípe

A great pousada for getting away from city noise and relaxing for a couple of days. The well-kept property faces the sea and has a lovely atmosphere, with more than 30 chalets. One especially handy touch: after checkout, you can still use comfortable showers and changing rooms if you have a later flight.

The hammocks in the rooms were a great touch, and Renato by the pool and the blondish guy with tattoos at the front desk were both exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great too, although it started a little late and guests were waiting impatiently outside for the restaurant to open. We stayed several days and changed rooms. If you can, book room number 61 or above, since those rooms are much newer and nicer, as the pictures show. The older ones are tiny, cramped, and very dated. The resort sits right on the ocean. There’s also a sad little farm/zoo at the back that could use some care and attention.

A relaxed beach resort with separate bungalows set among tropical gardens and direct access to the beach. One of the two main natural pool spots is a ten-minute walk away. Porto Galinhas town is three kilometers away, but the beach and overall lifestyle here are better. The only downside is that there isn’t much going on at night.

We really enjoyed our stay. The facilities worked great for us and our bay, and service throughout the resort was very good. Lovely scenery and excellent food too. I’d definitely recommend it.
