Alameda Lounge Pousada

The room was already flooded from the rain when the night guard showed us in. We’d arrived late after a tiring day, so we put up with it and went to bed despite the stained yellow sheets and towels and the awful bathroom smell. We stayed four days, and our car was left in an overgrown lot beside the inn with no security or protection. Nobody explained how anything worked when we arrived. Breakfast was mostly bread with a few spreads and butter, some fruit, and two pieces of cake. Anything extra had to be requested and paid for. The pool smelled so strongly of chlorine it felt like stepping into a chlorine pit. Then, on a rainy night, frogs got into our room and climbed the walls and ceiling. It was impossible to sleep there. No inn staff were around at reception, just the guard. When I told him we needed another room, he said he’d call someone. Ten minutes later he returned with insect spray for flies and mosquitoes and suggested using it on the frogs. I thought he was joking. We refused to go back in, and only after a lot of arguing did we get moved. The shower in the new room barely worked. Reception said someone could look at it in the morning, but nobody came or followed up. We spent the last two days with hardly any water coming from the shower. The facilities are poor, the staff seem unprepared, and there’s no dependable help at night if something goes wrong. I wouldn’t stay here if you want a relaxing trip. They didn’t seem interested in us or in fixing our problems.
