Pousada Nova Petropolis

The only thing going for it was the location. I booked it just to spend the night, and regretted that choice. I can't recommend it at all. We arrived at 5:30 p.m. to find the entrance locked and nobody at reception. After calling the number on the website, I learned that this was apparently normal. Someone opened the pousada and left us the key. I left at 9 the next morning. Nothing seemed ready in the room: the fan and TV remote didn't work, the sheets and pillowcases were stained, the bidet hose flooded the bathroom, and the shower had no hot water. When I called to complain, they said they couldn't do anything because maintenance only worked from 8 to 4. The pool was completely green and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for several days. Breakfast was very basic, with more sweets than breakfast food.

The staff were all very polite, and I want to thank them for that. Breakfast was one thing that fell short. I heard the pousada may be sold soon. I hope the new owners do well and future guests leave happy with their stay.

It's incredibly run down. In the room with air conditioning, there was a fire risk; in the room with a fan, it was stifling, and there were cockroaches, termites, and even rats. The place felt like a haunted castle. The owner doesn't seem to care about guests and is letting the pousada deteriorate. Almost nothing in the rooms works properly. Reception was there when we arrived to collect the final payment, then they disappeared, leaving guests at the mercy of the kitchen worker, who didn't know anything. It's unbelievable, but true. If you stay here, you could end up going through every bad thing you can imagine. The location is good, but that doesn't make up for it.

The location near Passarela do Descobrimento is the only good thing. We had a reservation, but there was no room available when we arrived. We had to spend the night in a room with no air conditioning, windows, or fan, and no lock on the door. We only got into our actual room the next day. Everything was old and dirty, and breakfast was awful, with no attention from the staff and no refills. I knew it wouldn't be good, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. I wouldn't recommend it or come back.
