Farol das Tartarugas Pousada

Amazing staff, and I had a wonderful time.

A nice, clean place with a familiar feel.

The pousada is inside a gated area managed by the Associação de Moradores, which made me feel safer. It's easy to get to the nearby Vila by the Tamar project. The bedding and towels were excellent, and cleanliness was excellent too. Breakfast was a big letdown. The fried items were soaked with oil, and the cakes were poor, like packaged ones. The fruit and juices were good. The hotel restaurant had few choices, so we often went to Vila, which has a good variety. Although the hotel is right by the sea, it's not a place for swimming because there are MANY rocks. We had a problem with the safe, which didn't work. Its door had to be replaced so we could use it, but the Pousada should have checked and fixed that before guests arrived. There were other inconveniences too. Vendors came into the area near the sea and bothered guests, even though the pousada has a mesh barrier and a gate. I think they could put up a sign saying something like "Guests only" or "No vendor access." On two days, after staff came into our apartment to clean, they left the door unlocked when they went out.

Delicious food, and breakfast was very good. The portions weren't huge, but the flavor and quality were excellent. The place was very, very nice, with simple elegance and harmonious decorative touches. Clean and very tidy too.
