Pousada Beira Mar

This was the worst inn experience I've had. The place was dirty and smelled of cigarettes, and the owners were incredibly rude. I was working nearby, and they made a booking mistake that put four people in a room meant for two. There was no room ready for us at check-in, and they treated us badly as if it were our fault. Breakfast was poor too. If you can, don't stay there.

The location is good, but I won't come back. The inn is very basic, the mattress and pillows were uncomfortable, and the shower swung between freezing and scalding. Breakfast was pretty lousy, though that wasn't the main issue. They made reservation mistakes, showed little willingness to fix them, and the service felt lazy. In the end, the owner blamed the employee for everything. Shameful.

They got the room booking wrong, then treated me badly. I'd reserved two rooms for four people, but they put us in one double room. I waited an hour at reception for the right accommodation, got delayed for work, and was still treated rudely. The owner was extremely impolite and blamed her housekeeper. The rooms smelled of cigarettes and had ants. Breakfast was bad too.

The beach is well located if you like open sea and some waves. We stayed in room 11, which was spacious and airy, and the air conditioning worked well. It even had a full-size fridge, not just a minibar. The building seems to have been designed as accommodation, and the facilities are good. The pool is gone now, with new rooms built in an attached outdoor area. A lot of work travelers stay here, including truck drivers and sales reps. There is a restaurant right next door, Miguelito, open for lunch and dinner. Several van routes also stop just out front. Breakfast was decent, but there wasn't enough for everyone. The posted schedule has a later breakfast time on weekends. We went down at the first slot and the work travelers had already eaten, leaving almost nothing, with no refill. We managed to get bread and one slice of cheese, the last items. More families came down after us, and I heard a lot of complaints because even the coffee was gone. On the next two days we went earlier and joined the business guests, so we understood what was happening. I only saw any refills on the third morning, maybe because of all the complaints. I saw an employee taking photos before opening breakfast to send to the owner. But a full-looking table in a photo doesn't help if there's not enough food for all the guests. At least four families barely got breakfast on two days. I can imagine how upset they were, since breakfast was included in their booking.
