Pousada Rio de Contas

I was glad to find that the pousada Rio de Contas still had its same charming, almost magical feel after ten years away. It’s just as cozy, too. I’d stayed there on every earlier visit to the city, so I was hoping nothing had changed, or that any changes would be for the better. The team is still very welcoming, and breakfast remains plentiful and delicious. It’s still fabulous after all this time. That really is extraordinary 🤩🤩

The central location is great, and the room was spacious, cozy, and nicely decorated. The pousada is clean and well cared for, though the pool needs daily attention because leaves and other tree debris can make it unusable for swimming. The shower enclosure also leaks into the bathroom and should be looked at. The staff were helpful, especially Duda, who was very attentive. Breakfast was good, though a little more variety would be nice. There weren’t many guests, so I understand that expanding the selection might not work well for the pousada. I’d suggest getting a 5-liter coffee pot, since they kept having to refill the coffee and there were times when none was available. I think this is the best pousada in Rio de Contas and the region, and I highly recommend it.

The internet was the one thing that could use improvement, since it kept fluctuating. Otherwise, it was a very comfortable stay, with wonderful facilities and spacious, clean rooms. Breakfast was simple but tasty. The service team really stood out, especially Filó and Gabriela. I’ll be back soon.

I feel right at home at pousada Rio de Contas. The people are caring and attentive, and the lovely, cozy place makes the whole stay feel like being wrapped in warmth and history, across time and space. I simply love it! ❤️
