Apartamento Ouro Negro

I’m making a formal complaint about the doorman in charge at the entrance. His manner is arrogant and dismissive, and he doesn’t seem prepared to deal respectfully or professionally with visitors. Instead of making people feel welcome, he embarrasses them; instead of offering guidance, he lays down rules. The whole interaction comes across as condescending and disrespectful. I’m paying a significant amount for the service, so basic courtesy and dignified treatment are the least I expect. Behavior like this drives people away and damages the place’s reputation. He also put me in an extremely awkward position by questioning the length of my shorts. That was out of line, especially in a beach setting. The way he approached me felt intrusive and unnecessary, and came across as prejudiced. Any homophobic or discriminatory conduct is a crime in Brazil, under the understanding of the Federal Supreme Court. If I encounter any behavior I consider discriminatory again, I’ll take the appropriate legal steps, including filing a formal police report. I expect management to take this seriously and act to prevent it from happening again. That narrow-minded doorman is ruining people’s trips. From what I can tell, his own life must be sad and miserable.

The apartments themselves are decent, but the way one daytime doorman treated me left me with a terrible impression of the place. He was an older man with outdated, disrespectful views, and showed no professionalism, preparation, or ethics. Seeing me in denim shorts and a crop top, he said, “You can’t leave through the front entrance dressed like that.” The condo rules are clearly posted in the elevator and by the entrance: people wearing swimwear should use another exit. My outfit was regular streetwear, not a bikini, and he should have been able to tell the difference. He showed no empathy or common sense, and the encounter was humiliating. How are women supposed to feel comfortable staying somewhere if they can be embarrassed over the clothes they wear out? I couldn’t feel at ease here.

I booked through Airbnb and found the place pleasant. The doorman was attentive, too.

The service was wonderful, and so was the location. I recommend it and hope to come back when I can.
