Augusto's Copacabana Hotel

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and breakfast was good, though mornings got crowded. The gym area and pool were okay, nothing more. What really limited us to three stars was the elevator bottleneck. There’s just one customer elevator and one service elevator, and the service one was out of order during our visit, so getting to and from our room took forever. The room Wi-Fi didn't work, even though the hotel's information promised it would.

The location is the one good thing here. We stayed during Carnaval and regret paying so much for a run-down hotel. The rooms are dilapidated and need a lot of care. Rain leaked through the AC vents, the sink was blocked, and doors slammed all morning. It's right beside a school, so you hear kids playing in the playground next door. The key card gets deactivated every two days, meaning you have to go back down for another one. Wi-Fi doesn't work, and breakfast is a joke 😂 The eggs have more butter than egg, and there are very few healthy or meat-free choices.

My friend and I stayed at Augusto's Copacabana Hotel over New Year's Eve 2024. It wasn't the best experience, but we gave it another try in 2025 because it was more affordable than most nearby hotels at that time. We paid extra for a larger, supposedly better room. It was bigger, but still extremely poor quality. We spent five of our seven days with bite rashes, and realized they were from bedbugs. The manager was no help. When we asked for a partial refund for the inconvenience, reception and the hotel managers made clear that such a request “would never be approved.” There's a video documenting our bedbug experience. I'd strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to think twice before booking.

Don't go. The room was full of bed bugs. Awful stay, with no cleaning or housekeeping for three days. The towels were stained or had holes, and management couldn't offer a proper solution or show customer service skills.
