We arrived around 9 a.m. after an early flight, but couldn't check in because our room wasn't ready. That was fine, and reception let us leave our bags while we spent the day in the city. When we came back around 10 p.m., though, they said our confirmed room was no longer available. The staff member blamed a “day-shift mistake” and said the night shift couldn't do anything. They sent us to the hotel next door, “Ibiza Barra Hotel,” which uses the same reception. Its room looked nothing like the pictures for our booked “Standard Suite” at “Hotel Be Loft Lounge,” and didn't feel equivalent. Since it was late, we were exhausted from the long trip, and had plans for the next few days, we accepted it and tried to rest. The first room there hadn't been cleaned. It smelled stuffy, the bed had been made with used sheets, used towels were still in the bathroom, and the sink was full of hair. I was so shocked I forgot to check the trash. Reception gave us another room, which was clean, but its TV didn't work. The next day, the whole lower floor smelled like sewage during breakfast, apparently because of a faulty pump or damaged pipe. Problems can happen, but better communication from staff would have helped. After another long day out, we were told we couldn't enter the parking lot because all spaces were full. I checked and found two empty spots. They then said another car was blocking the way, but I showed them our car could pass. The final explanation was that management had instructed them to refuse us. They told us to park across the street in front of a shop. We had specifically looked for fenced parking in Rio, not an unguarded street spot. When we asked who would be responsible if anything happened, they said it wasn't the hotel's responsibility. The listing also claims there's security, but we saw no security staff day or night. At night, only reception was there. I've traveled a lot and know booking-site listings can differ from reality, but I've never been treated this poorly. If you want a relaxed, enjoyable trip, stay away.

We got to the hotel at 9 p.m. with my family, several days after booking online and receiving confirmation by email and WhatsApp. They told us there'd been a mistake and no room was available. It was a terrible experience, and I had to find a poor-quality hotel at a very high price. They should have contacted me earlier so I could make proper plans.

The breakfast was the biggest letdown: bland, unappetizing, and poor quality. I'm baffled by the positive Google reviews and suspect foul play. At nearly 200 Euros a night, close to what larger European hotels or resorts cost, we expected far more than this. We booked Hotel Be Loft Lounge expecting four stars, but it didn't come close to even one. Getting around was inconvenient, with no bus or metro stops nearby. The rooms were cheaply furnished, had rusty fixtures, and weren't clean. Housekeeping was inconsistent, sometimes leaving our room untouched for days. The pool shut at 7 p.m., and the outdated elevator was unreliable. Staff had limited English, which made it hard to discuss problems. This is a place I'd avoid.

The pool area was lovely, and the wine bar had charm. My room was spacious and had a pleasant view, but it was basic and not very clean. I found dirty towels and a dirty toilet. I'm easy-going, so it didn't ruin my stay, though it bothered me. As a solo backpacker, I was surprised most staff didn't speak English, which made communication difficult. The person who checked me in, the woman at checkout, and the gentleman at the wine bar knew a little English. The hotel doesn't provide converter outlets, so Americans should bring one. They sell converters at tourist prices; I bought one at a nearby mall, where prices were similarly high. It's a decent place, a bit outside the center but a short Uber ride away when it's not rush hour. Pretty average, neither terrible nor exceptional.

The hotel and staff seemed quite new, but everyone was very nice and accommodating. It's a great little place near Barra's main attractions. You'll need a car to get there or should use taxis.
