Getting there can be frustrating. Uber and 99 drivers have a hard time finding or picking you up, and the local taxi company works, but costs twice as much. Better signs would help guests locate the hotel. We also found that the night guards, who I think start at 8 pm, didn’t seem to speak anything but Portuguese. Arriving in the evening and needing directions could be a real problem. That was our experience, anyway. Still, I’d recommend staying here. It’s a peaceful break from busy Rio, with a stunning view, modern comfortable rooms, and the best bathroom we’ve seen on our travels around Brazil. Breakfast had what we needed: fruit, cheese and meat, bread, a couple of pastries, and eggs if you ask. The two women at reception were lovely. Just set your expectations before you arrive.

We watched the sunrise from our room, with a perfect view of both sugarloaf mountain and christ the redeemer. Such a gift. This beautiful boutique hotel sits up on a hill in Santa Teresa, far from the city's hustle and bustle. The views are spectacular, the staff are friendly, and we had an amazing getaway.

The view of sugar loaf was great, and I think all the rooms have one. The room was a bit small with not enough storage, and the bathroom could be nicer. The woman at reception was extremely nice.

Santa Teresa has some nice restaurants and is a quaint, charming place in its own right. It’s also handy for Lapa, Escadaria Selaron, and Christ the Redeemer. Getting around by car or cab can take more effort than staying in central Rio because the roads are winding and hilly, so allow extra time and be patient. The hotel has gorgeous views, helpful staff, and a good breakfast included. There’s also a quiet pool area and bar. A lovely boutique place to stay.

The terrace is a great place to unwind away from the busy city. Rooms are clean and modern, with a lovely view, and the staff are very friendly.
