The island is a must-see, a tucked-away spot right next to the metro. It was our most special experience in Rio, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to get away from the usual tourist routine. Big hug from Antoaine and Augustine. We loved the atmosphere. The house is charming, the place is lovely, our room was beautiful, and the staff were kind.

The island is lovely to explore, with a local market on Saturdays and Sundays from 11h to 19h. There are plenty of restaurant choices too, and some can only be reached by boat, which makes going there a unique experience. We spent four days at Hotel Casa Nova Residência and had a really positive stay. Our room was great and very spacious. The common areas were excellent, especially the pool and large deck, perfect for unwinding in the late afternoon or enjoying an early coffee. Breakfast was tasty and had a good range of food. Getting there was easy. You can arrive by boat through the Ilha da Gigoia entrance or get off right at the hotel's own pier. The whole team was very friendly, and special thanks to Tiago for welcoming us so warmly and helping us throughout our stay. I highly recommend staying here.

The island feels welcoming and almost magical, a good escape from the city's noise. A small boat gets you there in two minutes for just 4 reais. We had a lovely stay. The welcome was warm, and the place was peaceful and comfortable. The lounge looking out over the lake was beautiful, with art, books, and good music. Our room was clean and comfortable, the shower was perfect, and the staff treated us with respect. Thank you!

I travel a lot and don't usually complain, but this stay left me feeling deeply let down. The rating and Booking reviews had set expectations that the actual experience didn't meet. There was no room service during the stay, so guests are left to handle cleaning and tidying themselves. Breakfast was very basic and inconsistent, with scrambled eggs not available every day. I stayed in room 5, where one side of the double bed sagged badly and the shower drain was clogged. In the December heat, the air conditioner leaked so much that it flooded the room. I reported it to staff right away, but nothing was fixed, and we woke up to another flooded room on the second day. I hope the hotel makes the needed repairs and improvements so future guests aren't put through the same experience.
