Castelo Valentim had a lovely view and was such a beautiful castle. I stayed there in 2013 while traveling alone. Luiz, the owner, was very kind, and he and his wife took me out to dinner. I had a lovely time and would visit again.

A one-of-a-kind stay in a place with a special history. 🌞🌻🌞
In Santa Teresa, on Rua Almirante Alexandrina, it's a very pretty place, with a bakery right across the street that also serves lunch.
It's easy to reach Castelo Valentim, with public transport right outside. The castle is in the upper part of the picturesque Santa Tereza neighborhood in central Rio, and it's quite close to the aprazível restaurant. Its architecture is designed to resemble a Gothic-style castle.
Built in 1897, Castelo Valentim has an eclectic style with fortress-like features. It stands high on the hill, with a splendid view over Serra dos Órgãos, Guanabara Bay, Parque do Flamengo, and the city of Niterói. It is at Rua Alm Alexandrino, 1405 - Sta Teresa - Rio de Janeiro - RJ - Brasil. The castle was the home of Comendador Antônio Valentim. His son, architect and set designer Fernando Valentim, designed it. In the 1930s, he divided the castle into apartments as a way to preserve the property. Today it is a residential condominium with eight apartments.
