Copacabana beach

The staff are great, and the bathroom gets cleaned regularly. The place is clean overall, but the beds are really awful. One night is okay, maybe two, but I'd forget about staying longer. This isn't the staff's fault, though. The owner won't invest more in the hostel. During Carnival, you charge $100 a night, with 10 people in one room, so that's $1,000 a night. Please upgrade the mattresses.

For the price, I expected much better conditions. The room was extremely small, humid, and had insects in it. Strong smells from the bathroom made for a particularly unpleasant night. A very disappointing stay at this hostel.

I spent a week here during Carnival, and it was just right for what I needed. The location is great, in a safe area. The staff were helpful, especially Galbad and Rofoel, who helped a lot with Carnival plans and even got tickets for a Flamenco game. Highly recommend.

The hostel is old and run down, and I had to leave in the middle of the night after another guest brought someone into the room and had sex several times during the night. That broke the hostel's own policy, but management ignored my request for compensation until I followed up myself. They then said they "could not compensate" me without explaining why, and didn't respond when I mentioned my rights under Brazillian consumer laws. I've filed a complaint with PROCON. Avoid this place.
