Check-in with A*****o was awful. He treated our whole team badly and made a lot of passive-aggressive comments. He mocked one party member’s last name, "Silva," calling it a "poor Brazilians last name" and saying it was a shame it was associated with politics and Lula. I overheard him continuing to act passive-aggressively toward other guests as we were leaving. We had reserved a three-bed room, but none was available. Since that was the hotel’s mistake, he said he’d provide an extra bed to make up for it. After the political comments, he changed his mind and gave us a room with only two beds. We also got no help with a refund or partial refund. A*****o said he and his manager would call the next day, and we have Brazilian numbers, but nobody ever did. The hotel itself was ugly, with an old building, but we expected that because of Carnaval and the price. That wasn’t the problem. I’ll leave this exact comment as a one-star Google review.

I don’t understand the 4.5 rating. Maybe those reviews are from family, friends, or people paid to write them. I didn’t even take pictures. The neighborhood was rough, dirty, and smelly, and anyone could enter the building and elevators. The lighting on our floor was poor, which felt dangerous. And the room, honestly, I can’t describe it. The sheets, pillows, and towels were old, the walls were dirty, and there weren’t enough outlets for chargers if you’re traveling in a group of two or three. Stay away from this hotel and location.

The front desk team at Days Inn by Wyndham in Rio de Janeiro made me feel at home. From the moment I arrived, Thiago, Nicolas and Nico were warm, professional, and efficient, and they helped make the stay easy and enjoyable. They were always ready with a smile and great local recommendations. Their attentiveness made a good trip even better. I wish I’d had cash to leave a tip. I hope this review shows how much I appreciate them. Nico, thank you for such a kind gesture. Drinks are on me when I return to Rio de Janeiro. If you stay here, you’ll be in good hands. I’ll definitely be back!

The staff were nice, but this hotel is a zero for me. The area looks dangerous, and I wouldn’t recommend walking around there. It’s not even cheap, at 50 USD a night, so it’s a bad deal. It took 50 minutes to get into my room. The AC was broken in the first one, so they moved me, then the door on the new room wouldn’t open for about 40 minutes. Don’t waste your money here.

The rooms are updated and clean, and breakfast was decent. The AC unit was really loud, though. Maintenance checked it and said that level of noise was normal. Some of the people hanging around the area didn’t make it seem great, but we had no problems. There are some good attractions nearby, and Ubers are cheap, so getting around was easy. It does the job if you want somewhere clean and budget-friendly.
