It's a big place in a convenient spot, close to the beach and shopping. It could use some updating, and the convenience store inside is an absolute scam.

The reception staff were great, always checking that we were happy with our stay and quick to deal with any problems. The building's services, including the pool, gym, and sauna, are still running, even though the hotel has been privatized and sold to many individual owners. Some rooms get room service. Ours was cleaned every other day.

I had a great experience. The event service included coffee and water, and it was very well provided. My room in the basement of Hotel Transamerica had good facilities and strong air conditioning. Getting there without a car is a little difficult, but not too bad.

The room and pool were great, and the breakfast was good. But there were no forks, knives, or spoons at my table or on the breakfast table. There's also a small shopping area about 200 meters from the hotel where you can get food.

The breakfast was decent, though the Brazilian cheese balls were unpredictable: some were deliciously soft, others hard enough to hurt your teeth. The pool out front seemed hardly used. It's not a wonderful hotel, but it gets the job done. The sheets felt a bit itchy, and the lighting in the rooms and around the hotel was cold and clinical.
