We had the time of our lives and would love to come back! The people who live and work there treated us like family, and they even took us to local parties we’d never have found if we’d stayed in a hotel. We had such a great time, and I recommend this hostel to anyone wanting to see more of Rio than just the usual highlights. It’s outside the heart of the city, but public transport is good, and plenty of Ubers can take you wherever you need to go for reasonable prices. Everyone was so kind!

The room was dirty and a mess, and the hostel looks much better on Google than it does in person. I arrived at 6 am, before check-in, and offered to pay for breakfast. They refused and didn’t even offer me coffee or anything. I got upset, and the owner wanted to speak by phone. Even though I was patient and polite, she said rude things to me. The owner treats customers very badly. The welcome was horrible.

On weekends there are music concerts, including forró and samba, and you can choose between shared and private rooms. The place has nature right alongside city life, and Praia do Pepe is within walking distance. It’s close to Jardim Oceano metro station, with access to anywhere in the city, and you just need to take a 2 minute boat. @entranessaviagem.

There’s a kitchen where you can make your own meals, plus yoga classes and live music in the evenings. The rooms are very clean, breakfast is amazing, and there’s a big pool and nice common areas to hang out in. It’s a relaxed, different kind of hostel on a small island in Barra da Tijuca. You can get to Ipanema or Copacabana by metro in under 30 minutes.

There’s a nice jazz night every week, though the drinks aren’t very cheap. If you like jazz, I recommend going. The hostel is on a small island in Barra da Tijuca. I took a boat from Jardim Oceânico metro station to Ilha do Ype, then arrived there.
