The apartment looked nice, but the stay with Unhotel in Rio was disorganized and not worth the hassle. We were missing basic comforts you'd expect from a major hotel brand like Hilton or Marriott: no washcloths, very little bedding or blankets, and little attention to guest comfort. The airport pickup was the biggest problem. Unhotel offered transportation before our trip, so we agreed and paid in advance. We landed around 4am after an overnight flight, but there was no driver waiting. After we contacted them, the driver said she'd arrive around 5am. Customs and baggage took us under 10 minutes, and exhausted after the flight, we couldn't reasonably wait another 30-40 minutes. We paid for our own Uber to the hotel. WhatsApp customer service was slow and unreliable throughout the stay. It took hours to hear back about the pickup, the prepaid fare was never refunded, and they never really dealt with the issue. Instead, they asked if we'd like to book a ride back to the airport, which felt insulting after they had already failed us and kept our money. A nice-looking apartment isn't enough when service matters, especially for international travelers arriving at 4am. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The location is the one thing this hotel has going for it. The breakfast buffet was the worst I've ever had in Brazil. The bathroom was in disrepair, most room sockets didn't work, and the sheets didn't even cover the mattresses properly. The place needs to close for a complete renovation. I'd pay more to stay elsewhere, or the same amount for somewhere that might be more hygienic.

Avoid booking here. A person calling himself Thiago Da Silva scammed me. When I got to the property, there was no booking under my name, and the money I'd paid through his WISE link was gone. Agoda advertised it and assured me the property was legitimate. When I asked the host for my money back, he threatened me, saying I was in their region and asking if I didn't know Rio de Janeiro. I left the country immediately after that.

The rooftop pool and view of the christ were nice, and the beach was a quick walk away. But the hotel itself was poor. My room reeked of cigarettes, there was always a group of drunken homeless people at the entrance, and the whole area smelled of sewage. I definitely wouldn't stay again.

The room was very clean and a decent size, but the hotel and rooms are old. The breakfast buffet didn't impress me. They don't take PIX or contactless payments, and the staff is old but works. It wouldn't be my first choice if I needed a place again.
