Hotel Gloria

We felt right at home in our private double room at Glória Guest House. The bed and mattress were really comfortable, the sheets were clean, and the room had a TV with open and cable channels, air conditioning, a minibar, a wardrobe, and a small table with two chairs. The bathroom was roomy and had hooks on the walls. Everything at Glória Guest House was spotless. The location is excellent, close to Palácio do Catete and Catete Metro Station, with plenty of bars, supermarkets, and other shops nearby. The street is narrow and winding, and you have to walk about 400 meters uphill from Rua do Catete. At first the hills can make it seem like you're heading into a community, but that's just an impression. We felt safe there, so don't worry. Mr. Abílio was very helpful and available for questions. He even replied quickly on WhatsApp when I asked if there was a hair dryer. My boyfriend and I stayed in January 2019 and loved the value for money. We only used the shared spaces a little, but cooked a meal in the shared kitchen and met guests from other countries, especially elsewhere in Latin America. It made for a lovely cultural exchange. The place is cozy, the service is great, and we'd love to come back soon.

The place is near Aterro do Flamengo and is shared with other visitors, many of them from abroad. The street has some bends and turns; if you don't know the area, it may initially look like a community, but it's safe to walk around during normal daytime hours. All in all, it was a good experience.

I loved living there. It was all very clean and organized, and communication with the administrator was great. Catete metro station, Flamengo beach, and markets are all very close. I'll come back and stay there again.

My best stay in RJ so far, I'd recommend it! The rooms are lovely and private. There's a supermarket, Catete metro station, pharmacy, produce shop, and bakery nearby, and the airport is close too. An Uber from the hostel to the airport cost R$18,00.
