The hotel is far too expensive for what it is. The room is tiny, with a narrow bed, and it’s easy to bump into corners as you move around. There are mosquitoes at night, and the place smells of smoke all the time. There’s no window to the street, just one facing the inner hallway where people smoke and talk. The photos are fake; in reality, everything is worse. Breakfast was bad too: rotten watermelon, pineapple that was far too unripe, and fried eggs so salty they were impossible to eat.

The location is a real plus. The metro is just a minute away, and you can walk to the market, the bus to Corcovado, Lapa and Gloria. The bed was very comfortable, and they brought fresh towels every day. The staff spoke almost no English, but they were friendly and did their best to help. The room was very small and had no daylight. The bathroom was tiny, with no shower curtain, and the water was rather cold with no way to adjust the temperature. Breakfast wasn’t very good, the room was hot, and the choices were the same every day. Wifi was unstable and often dropped.

The staff were friendly. It was a relief to finally find someone who spoke English. It’s cheap, so don’t expect luxury. Transport is convenient, with the subway nearby, and there are always taxis in front of the house.
