A clean spot to sleep and shower, especially if you’re traveling solo or as a couple. It’s inside the mall and about five minutes from the subway. The area is away from the buzz, though Botafogo is around 20 minutes away. Handy if you’re looking to see more of Rio beyond Copacabana and Ipanema.

The free breakfast worked well for our plans. It starts at 6am and runs until 11:15am, so we could eat before heading out early or sleep in after a late night. Claudia also did a great job with housekeeping, making the room feel newly checked in each day. We were there for Taylor Swift's concert and wanted to see as much of Rio as possible during our first week in the city. The staff were consistently friendly. João handled check-in, spoke English when we didn't speak portugese, sorted out our questions and kindly gave us the two room keys we asked for. The blue Ibis is a budget hotel, so the rooms are very small, but ours was enough for a quiet night's sleep, a hot or cold shower, and charging our devices before heading to another destination. The hotel is right by the giant Nova America mall, and a short Uber ride got us to pretty much anything we wanted to see, including stadiums, museums, Christ the Redeemer and the Acqua Rio aquarium. It was a calm place to return to after a hot, noisy and crowded day.
