I've now gone weeks without an effective response. Several emails went unanswered, and Customer Care representatives confirmed in multiple calls that the hotel and management team had promised to contact me again. That never happened, and I still have no concrete resolution proposal. So this was not actually resolved or concluded on May 15. The manager's response was far from the truth. It was a one-sided account from hotel management, with no concrete resolution and no reply to the evidence and facts I later provided. I promptly sent photos of part of what happened that day, and she never got back to me. The response restricted my commentary, and the manager never called or answered further. I can't recommend this place at all. The manager wouldn't even call me, and restricted me on both the hostel's Instagram account and her professional Instagram. They've ruined my pre-wedding photoshoot. I paid a specific fee for it, but when we arrived, another event was using the main areas that had been offered for the shoot, so the photos couldn't be taken. My team and I came from São Paulo to Rio just for this, and all the planning and logistics for the day were lost. While trying to reach another part of the property, we were also directed through a backstage changing area, which was very uncomfortable. More than 19 days later, I'm still trying to get a concrete resolution from the hotel and the Accor network.

The property is beautiful and the staff were incredibly friendly. In my shared room, there was enough space for my things, my towel had its own hook, and my luggage fit in a locker. I could hear a little noise from bikes and police horns, but it was manageable. The bathroom had poor ventilation, and mold had started growing in several places, including in there. The key card for the shared room also had to be re-registered every night. It wasn't a huge deal, but it got annoying. Staff said that checking out one person's card deactivates all the cards, so maybe that's something they could change. I enjoyed my stay at Jo&Joe. If you can get an affordable price while traveling, I'd recommend it.

The reception staff were friendly, and the yard is lovely with a nice atmosphere. The location is good, too. The bathtub was warm at night, but there were no towels. The room itself was unbelievably tiny and very bare, without even soap. The showerhead was broken, the bathroom had mold and cleanliness problems, and the bed was so uncomfortable I couldn't sleep. Breakfast was awful, and the restaurant was overpriced for a hotel that presents itself as high-end. The setting is pleasant, but the comfort and value don't match the price.

The advertised prices behind reception didn't fit the room's poor construction or lack of amenities. Finding the room was a chore, too. There were signs, but they were replaced with a pointless app that didn't help me find where I was sleeping. Jo & Joe's sits among beautiful houses in the quiet Largo do Boticario. I stayed for a corporate event, and the event setup was okay, though music from the bar downstairs sometimes made it hard to hear the speakers because the meeting space had no door. The lodging was disappointing. The shared dorms were cramped and missing basics like hand soap. Metal fixtures were loose, the shower was unreliable, and the toilet needed coaxing to flush. There were so few towels that I had to use my bath towel to use the tiny sink, or go without. Even the netted necessaire was poorly placed, on the lower bunk's headboard right where you'd lean your back to read.
