Kariok Hostel

Being close to the metro and having several places to eat nearby, either out or delivered, makes this hostel worth the price. It was clean and spacious in the common areas, but the rooms felt very cramped, which was my main complaint. The stairs are also a hassle with lots of luggage. Still, it's a decent option in Rio.

The atmosphere was relaxed, more on the calm side than a party hostel, and it was easy to chat with people when others were around. Gloria metro station is very close, about 20 minutes from Copacabana Beach one way or the Maracená stadium the other way. Lapa's nightlife is roughly a 10-minute walk. The place was clean, the staff friendly, breakfast decent, and laundry reasonably priced. Thanks for a nice stay, guys!

Alex at the front desk was great, always helpful and good at arranging tours. There are plenty of clean bathrooms, plus a kitchen and lounge guests can use for free. Breakfast is included but pretty basic. The rooms are small, with lots of beds packed in, though still liveable.

It has the look of a small boutique hotel and sits in a good location, especially if you book one of the single rooms. The staff are friendly and professional in their own way. It's an easygoing place, without the kind of chaos people often associate with hostels.
