Most of the mall seems to be shutting down. There are only a handful of restaurants left on the ground floor.

There are lots of food choices here, along with both well-known brands and less familiar shops. It's a good downtown Rio mall to visit if you want to browse a broad mix of stores and restaurants.

The place is beautiful and very trendy, with an elegant feel and a good range of shops and goods. It isn't cheap, and a lot of what's sold there isn't made in Brazil. Getting there is easy too, with the tube station not far away and public transport and taxis available.

These days I'm not sure what Rio's oil painting market is like, but 35 years ago there weren't many malls or galleries where we spent time. The taste was different then, and there are plenty of ways to spend dollars now. Good luck! My parents had a society here, and in our case it was a marchand. Armando Vianna, Orthoff, Rescala, Manoel Santiago, Mabe, and others were exhibiting around that time. It was rare for a paintor to go to their own party or exposition. Their market seemed wild. To make US$1.000 from an oil painting, you had to be old, bored, and very experienced with Rio and all sorts of delights we buy. It means nothing to an artist and high culture. My father used to sing dollars, auction, and percentages in their oils, but they were adorable, never even mentioning their ancient idols or their running and settlement. Hello cariocas, this is a cuilt mall, big, and it has its own taste. It has furniture, paintings, and some market you don't find in our other malls.
