I hated staying here and honestly feel scammed. The service and location were the only good parts. The breakfast was fantastic, but there were never enough cups or cutlery, so we had to wait for them to free up. The room had massive cockroaches, the carpets were filthy, and the hotel clearly hasn’t had proper maintenance in ages. The shower handle fell off every time I used it, and I had to put it back myself. The air conditioning barely worked. They didn’t replace the bedding daily, and drinking water in the evening cost extra through the minibar. This place has potential because of its location, but it needs a huge amount of work. Someone who assigns hotel stars should inspect it. Calling it five stars is ridiculous, three at best. I’ve stayed in better backpackers, and I’ll never recommend this hotel chain.

Barra da Tijuca worked really well for us: it’s peaceful, near the beach, and away from the chaos while still being well connected. The breakfast had plenty of fresh choices, and the staff were attentive, kind, and always happy to help. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, with a modern, elegant feel that still felt welcoming. The rooftop views and the hotel’s general atmosphere added to the stay. I’d happily come back to Laghetto Lifestyle and recommend it for a relaxing, comfortable stay in Rio.

Luca and Ivan were especially accommodating, and even showed us how to make caipirinhas. We had such a fun stay and would definitely recommend it.

The rooms need serious maintenance. Ours smelled strongly of humidity or mold, and switching rooms only helped a little. The pillows smelled unwashed, the old carpet under the bed was dirty, water damage had eaten away at the bathroom door, the shower overflowed, and the switches were grimy. We got shower towels but only one hand towel each day, so we had to ask for more daily. The rooms are very run-down and need renovation. When booking, the hotel should be more upfront about their condition. There’s barely a gym, just two treadmills and a cross trainer, and the 12th-floor bar has only two tables. On the plus side, the location is excellent, right across from the beach, with dinner and coffee options nearby and more within a 10-minute walk. Breakfast was nice, with a good range and Nespresso coffee, and reception staff were polite and accommodating. We stayed four nights with friends in a “Luxus” room with a partial sea view. For me, this is three stars at best.
