The big lobby works as a bar, and every evening at nine everyone gets a free Caipirinha. It really brings people together, which makes this a great fit for solo travelers or small groups who don’t want to stay in their own bubble. I was there over new year 2013/2014, when Stand Fast Hostel had just changed to LimeTime Hostels. The rooms were clean and air-conditioned, and the staff were friendly and competent. I’d absolutely stay with them again.

Really good value, especially since every bed has its own reading light and outlet. At plenty of hostels, there’s just one outlet for twelve beds, which is a real problem these days.

I’ve stayed in a lot of Rio hostels over the past five years, and this is my first choice. Stay here and you won’t regret it.

The toilets were clean, the staff were nice, and the location was perfect. The bedrooms weren’t as good, though. The sheets looked a bit old and had some stains, so I wasn’t sure they were really clean.
