For a one-day stay while I took care of my visa renewal, this was an ideal choice for the price. The location is very convenient, within walking distance of the consulate and close to Lapa and Rio's Historic Center. It's a modest, simple hotel compared with the big chains, but it handles what it offers very efficiently.
The room was okay and clean, and the staff were helpful, though they could use more training. Nobody could suggest places to eat or order from. The corridors had a strong, unpleasant smell. It's handy for one night because it's close to Santos Dumont airport.
The front desk and cleaning staff treated us like family, and I'd definitely stay again. There are lots of amenities, plus metro access and a weekend farmers market. It's a phenomenal hotel!
The rooftop terrace has an amazing view, and there’s a pool and gym up there too. My room was tidy, and the staff were welcoming and caring. The restaurant was very good, with fresh, homemade food, and they can prepare special meals if you just ask. The hotel is also an easy walk from Gloria metro station.
Gloria station is very close, and from there it takes about 20 minutes to reach Copacabana or Ipanema. That was handy during Carnaval, when getting an Uber could be a problem. Flamengo is a 10-15 minute walk away, and for me it’s Rio’s most peaceful beach. There was a bloco there in the afternoon, behind the hotel, then the next day the party was right out front, so it practically came to me. You don’t have to stay right on the beach in Rio, where hotel prices are over the top. Service was good and breakfast had plenty of choices.
