Mar de Ipanema - Visconde de Pirajá

I booked two months ahead for December and paid in full for a non-refundable reservation. Now the hotel has canceled it, saying they’re fully booked for December 2026. This is completely dishonest management. They’re cheating people and playing with their lives.

The rooftop was a great place to look out over the two brothers mountains, the ocean and the sunset. It has an air-conditioned indoor area as well as space outside. There’s no pool, but the ocean is only two blocks away, so we didn’t really need one. I found this hotel while looking online for the most rocket miles for my American Airlines Advantage account on Impanema beach, 15000 loyalty points. I’m trying to earn Plaitinum Pro status or higher with American, but still wanted somewhere decent to stay. This place beat my expectations. It’s two blocks from the beach, the rooms are modern and clean, and the staff greeted me with smiles. The included breakfast was very good and there was plenty of it.

The staff were helpful whenever we needed them, and we could get beach chairs and umbrellas for free by asking. The location also works really well for the beach and Ipanema's shops and cafes. The rooms are on the small side, though they do the job if you aren't expecting a suite. Breakfast had cooked choices along with the usual fruit, cheese and meats, but the selection didn't change much from day to day.

The staff were kind and amazing, and we had a great stay. Our room was comfortable, with a mini fridge and bottled water. The hotel is close to the beach and supplies towels, chairs and parasols to take along. Breakfast was okay and limited, but convenient in the morning. The area felt safe, with restaurants nearby and a food shop for convenience. Copacabana is a cheap ubber ride away. I’d recommend the hotel.
