Orla Copacabana Hotel

The employees were so friendly, and my daughter and I loved staying here. It was clean, convenient, and really close to the beaches, with a very safe feel. Ask for a room with an ocean view.

It was noisy outside the hotel one night, which comes with being in such a prime spot, but I’d stay here again if I came back to Rio. The location makes it easy to reach both Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. We also had a very good breakfast, and the staff were genuinely helpful, printing a ticket for us when we asked. The rooms were well equipped.

I had a pleasant stay all around. The room, rooftop views, breakfast, and staff were all great. Pedro at reception deserves a special thanks for his help and food suggestions.

The people were helpful and the service was good, and the beach location is great. The rooms were pretty good, too, though they didn’t have tea, coffee, or water. The lobby had no complimentary coffee or water either, everything cost extra. For a four-star hotel, breakfast was a letdown: poor food quality and little variety, plus really bad coffee. The service there was all right. The pool felt more like a big bathtub, and the fitness room was tiny. It seemed they’d done just enough to qualify for four stars. There was a pee smell outside, and homeless people were sleeping out front. The hotel-arranged taxi took what seemed to be a deliberately longer route, drove more recklessly than any Uber we used during our two weeks, and then charged more than the meter at the airport. It felt like the hotel might be in on the system, given how the taxi was ordered. I’d order an Uber instead. You can’t trust a four-star hotel. At around 20% less, I’d have rated it four or five stars. Danish hotels cost about the same but offer more. That’s Denmark, though, and given the price of everything else in Rio, the value here should be much better.
