Pestana Rio Atlantica

The hotel is well located, but the stay fell far short of what we expected for its category and price. Breakfast was disappointing, with limited variety, poor organization, and slow service. In the room, we found leaks in the bathroom, visible damage, and a general lack of upkeep and cleanliness. We had booked a suite with “side sea views” for two people for seven nights at Pestana Rio Atlântica, for around €1,400. The worst part came on Saturday morning, when construction began right beside our window. The noise went on constantly and made it impossible to rest. We even recorded videos of workers suspended directly in front of our room.

Copacabana is a perfect location, and we had a fantastic stay overall. There were six of us, with each couple in a separate room, and all the rooms were clean and excellent. The sea-view room costs more, but I think it’s absolutely worth it. The staff were so friendly and the service was great, especially Marcs, who deserves a mention. I’d have liked more variety in the food and fruit juices. The rooftop terrace could also pay a bit more attention to what guests want.

The people and the location would bring me back. The hotel is right across from Copacabana, and the service from the staff was great. Breakfast has lots of choices and is really good. The rooftop pool is wonderful, but it fills up quickly despite being large, so go early. The rooms and some shared areas are showing wear. A few things were being worked on during my stay, including an elevator and the men’s rooftop bathroom. There’s also a gym, though it’s quite small. I stayed three nights when I first arrived in Brazil.

Breakfast was one of the best parts of our stay, with heaps to choose from, including fresh fruit, pastries, desserts, and tapioca pancakes made to order with your choice of filling. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and its lovely sea view made mornings feel special. The hotel is only a few meters from Copacabana Beach, which made the location hard to beat. Renovations were underway, but they didn’t really affect us. We also liked relaxing at the rooftop bar with a drink, whether a fresh coconut or something stronger. We’d happily stay here again for the breakfast and beach location.
