On 5/28/26 I found this cute gourmet supermarket with a bakery, deli and olives. They were handing out samples of JIM Bean? Oh yes! They have spirit 2. It has everything you need for a beach picnic, plus more.
A small shop, so don’t expect a huge selection, but it’s a good place for groceries. The pears and bread rolls were tasty.
If I could give it a zero, I would. The staff were very rude and seemed untrained. They were slow and acted like they cared more about their phones and conversations than anything else. At self-checkout, the man there muttered “lord have mercy” in Portuguese, apparently because the other cashiers were busy while his checkout wasn’t. Just rude in general.
If you live nearby, it’s a good supermarket, and the prices are about the same as other local shops. It can be disorganized, though. The deli staff are friendly, but many of the others aren’t. I don’t expect much customer service in Brazil anymore, but I find it irksome when staff just talk among themselves on the floor instead of taking initiative to help someone who needs it. The checkout staff are nice, and some even offer a smile now and then.
I waited more than 40 minutes to check out. There was one cashier handling a line of about 40 people, while three cashiers served the other line, and they wouldn't let our line use them. The staff were extremely rude and disorganized. Tourists should stay away. Pão de Açúcar is nearby and a better option.
