I enjoyed my stay here with my girlfriend. The neighborhood felt a little sketchy, though that wasn't an issue during the day. At night, as elsewhere in Rio, just take a cab.

The place was in bad shape, and the staff were unpleasant. A terrible experience.

I was really disappointed. This is the worst hostel I've stayed at in Brasil so far, and it looks nothing like the online photos. The dorms have more beds than shown, which feels misleading, and the beds are flimsy and noisy, as if made from cheap material. I also saw a camera on the ceiling by the door inside the room, which I believe should be illegal. The rooms and bathrooms weren't very clean, and breakfast was a joke: one piece of bread, coffee, and a fruit. Towels aren't provided, and they charge 10 reales for one. The area wasn't nice either. I don't understand how it has so many good reviews.

I've had a really pleasant stay in one of the smaller rooms, with just one bunk bed. Breakfast is nice, though there's a lot of carbs. The fan is right above the beds but doesn't reach mine, and I got a few mosquito bites in the backyard. Still, the place is full of plants and in a great location.
