The view over Santa Teresa is incredible, and Mambembe felt so much like home. It's a really nice, always-clean hostel, and you get a lot for the price, breakfast included. Good luck if you end up with the top bunk, though, hahaha. Thanks, Mambembe, it was awesome!
Mambembe's creative spirit comes through in all the improvised decorations, which give the place an authentic feel in Rio. There's lots of room to hang out both indoors and outside, and the atmosphere is great. The staff are super friendly. Go enjoy it and get inspired :)
Such a cozy place with a real family vibe, one of the best hostels I've stayed in. Hope you enjoy every second there. Don't forget to say congratulations to victor at reception.
I met some really nice solo travelers here, and it was easy to get a good night's sleep since there's no loud music. The beds are a good size, with curtains for privacy, and there's air conditioning at night plus room to store your things comfortably. Staff and owners are very friendly and offer great tips for things to do around Rio. It's well located too. I'd highly recommend it if you want a hostel with a family feel.
The area isn't the safest part of Rio, but I didn't run into any problems. The building could use a few small repairs, nothing remarkable. Inside, the rooms and bathrooms were clean, and there are plenty of nice spots to relax and enjoy yourself. I felt comfortable and really welcomed. The staff were kind, helpful, and went out of their way for me. Great atmosphere.
