Suites Moreninha

Before the trip, I had no complaints about the booking service. Both hosts were attentive, unlike what I’d read in the site comments. But the room was a very different story. It was advertised as a suite with a sea view and a hot tub. I was told the tub had no hot water, but in fact it wasn’t working at all. I’m used to staying in inns and hotels, and it was clear it hadn’t worked for a long time. The room smelled strongly of mold and cigarettes from the time we arrived until we left. The lighting in both the bathroom and bedroom was awful, and the toilet seat was broken. The shower was the only decent part, at least it had hot water. I do not recommend it.

I booked for one adult and two children, but the house employee said there was only one accommodation available, at the highest price. I tried to contact him, but he didn’t reply. When we arrived, the place looked awful and there was no single bed, just an old double bed where all three of us slept. There was no hot water on Saturday and no water at all on Sunday. I can’t say whether anyone else had cancelled, but based on what I was told, it didn’t seem like other people were staying there.

The accommodation was clean and in a good location, but the overall service left a lot to be desired and more care is needed. For example, the hot tub drain plug doesn’t close, so you can’t use it, there are loose wires left exposed, and the bathroom leaks. The decor is very basic, too. The accommodation’s location on Google should be corrected to make it easier to find.

What a wonderful, almost heavenly place, with complete peace and quiet. It faces the sea on Ilha de Paquetá, one of Brazil’s most scenic spots. Come see it.
