I was only on the road for about 20 minutes, but being up here felt like a completely new experience. The people seemed really down to earth and friendly. Around 90% of those who passed me said “Boa tarde.”

The view is amazing, and I love Vidigal. Gringos, it feels very safe here. WiFi can be unreliable sometimes, but it’s free. The cooks are great and serve drinks, and the hostel beds aren’t bad. Keep in mind it’s a place to sleep, though. It’s a hostel, not a hotel, so anyone complaining about certain things should go to the Sheraton, hahaha.

The owners are really nice, and the hostel is amaaaaaazing! I never could have imagined the sunsets and sunrises you can see from there. I’d thought going into slums might be dangerous, but it wasn’t at all. I really recommend it!

The view is great, and the people are really, really nice. The area feels interesting and different from the places you’d usually see in Rio. Go there!

After a few days, the hostel ran out of water and we had to leave. We were never reimbursed for the nights we’d cancelled.
