The family who run it are lovely, and I enjoyed my stay, though it could have been better. Getting around may be difficult if steep uphill and downhill walks are a problem.

We were there for Carnival. The rooftop terrace has some fantastic views, and it’s good value for such an expensive city. It isn’t really a party hostel since there’s no great communal space, but the owners were among the warmest, friendliest people we met in Brazil. We have a crush on Bruno!

Bruno and the rest of the staff were so welcoming and had good suggestions for things to do. It’s a bit of a climb to get there, but good for the legs! A great place to stay in Virdigal.
