Villa Franca

The stay exceeded what we expected. Mrs. Samira and her son Alexandre were wonderful hosts. When we arrived, they showed us around and pointed out tourist attractions plus good bars and restaurants nearby, several of which were an easy walk away. Santa Teresa has plenty of culture and options for different tastes. Everything was clean and working properly. The rooms are spacious and airy, with balconies and lovely decor. I recommend it, and when I’m back in RJ, this will definitely be one of my first choices.

The worst stay of my trip. Maia, the employee, was helpful and tried to assist me, but the cleaner refused to help me park and unload my things. She also wouldn’t lend me even a tiny spot to hang clothes I’d washed at friends’ home. I’d been travelling for 15 days with my terminally ill dog. Then she got into a horrible argument with a man I believe is her partner and lives in the house. The next day, the owner was very rude on the phone and tried to hurt me by calling my dog old. Bad energy, so I left. I absolutely don’t recommend it. The bathroom smelled, and the downstairs single room was tiny, including the bed. At that price, breakfast should be included.

For the price, this is probably the best spot if you want to wander around the center and take photos. Bars and restaurants are about 300-500 metres away, and parking is free. The staff are polite, the decor is beautiful, and the bathroom is large. Breakfast has a little more variety and is slightly more substantial than elsewhere, with freshly squeezed juice.

The service is great, and the place is close to several nice bars in Santa Tereza. The rooms are roomy and airy, all with a TV, air conditioning, and a minibar. The facilities are excellent. I recommend it for couples and anyone wanting to explore Rio de Janeiro.
