Pousada Pampulha

Great.

The pool is pretty, the beach is close, and the price is affordable. I hope to come back someday after they’ve improved the problems. The experience was awful, mainly because of the staff, who showed guests a shocking lack of respect. Things started badly when a guest’s cooler broke and he took responsibility for cleaning everything up. The employee was extremely rude and disrespectful to him. It was horrible to witness, and the staff seemed unprepared to work with the public. The air conditioning barely works, and rats running through the ceiling kept us up at night. There’s no electric shower. At breakfast, staff wrote down the room numbers of people who had already eaten and treated us like cattle. They didn’t know how to speak with us at all.

During our first two days, we had serious problems, including no water in the morning, which got in the way of basic hygiene. Pool access was restricted too, making it hard for guests to use. At breakfast, staff wrote down the room numbers of people serving themselves, which made us feel mistrusted and overly monitored. From the moment we arrived, the team, especially the kitchen staff, showed little warmth or empathy and made us uncomfortable. All of this made our stay at Pousada Pampulha extremely disappointing. An inn should offer hospitality, comfort, and respect, and that clearly wasn’t our experience. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, and I hope this feedback leads to improvements.

There were other problems too, but the water kept running out in the rooms, the shower was terrible, and hot water was out of the question. The pool had a curfew, and the staff member in charge was very rude. I heard staff call some guests “greedy” for eating three pieces of cake at breakfast. The reception staff were very impolite, and employees were sharp with people who asked questions or needed help. It seemed bad at the start, and by the end it still seemed just as bad. Never again!
