Itapua was a great base for us, with a fabulous beach just 100 meters away, several bars for evenings, and the city center, Pelourinho, about half an hour away by taxi or bus. Itapua itself is livelier at night. Franco and his wife were excellent hosts, and the rooms were spacious and clean, with a very good breakfast. Franco knows Salvador and Brazil's history inside out. Don't miss the chance to tour the city with him. There may be similar or even better places to stay in Salvador, but his enthusiastic tour, with its history, interesting details, and insights into local life, is hard to match.

Cinara makes an excellent breakfast, with a new menu of local specialties each day. She and Franco were kind and helpful, and made us feel at home at Casa Anselmo B&B. It's in a quiet spot by Itapuà beach, a few minutes' walk from the Itapuà lighthouse. We also joined one of Franco's private Salvador tours. He draws on twenty years of experience in the city as a guide. We recommend both the B&B and the tours.

Franco made me feel at home and never left me feeling alone. He was helpful with everything, and his advice was useful. I'd recommend taking his city tour, he knows his subjects well and keeps it interesting. I also suggest hiring his friend Gilberto as a taxi driver to see the area. He was friendly and professional. The house is cozy and has a pool, with a great location near the beach and airport. It was an incredible local vacation, highly recommended.

We felt at home and really comfortable here. Franco was so friendly, always checking whether we needed anything. The room was spacious, with movie channels, a minibar, good air conditioning, and a fan. Everything was just right, and the breakfast was wonderful, with fresh juice, bread, and cake. The location is great, one block from a quiet, uncrowded beach, close to Loro restaurant on the beach, a small market two blocks away, and the airport. We’ll definitely come back.
