Barra Mar Pousada e Restaurante

We were looking for somewhere to eat, three of us, and chose the restaurant attached to the hotel, which is open to everyone. A sign said the fried fish was 40,00 and served two people. We asked the employee if it would be enough for three, and she said yes. But when the bill came, they charged us 80,00 for the fish. When we asked why, we were treated rudely, and the server even called us "ridiculous" for thinking that dish cost 40,00. We shouldn't have to guess the prices; they should tell us the cost of the dishes upfront. What was strange was that no manager stepped in to sort it out. In the end, we stood our ground and paid only the price we'd been told at the start. At 40,00 the food would have been good value, but not at 80,00. I'm reviewing the restaurant, not the hotel, and I only recommend it if you want to be embarrassed and mocked.

The location is great, between the port and Farol da Barra, and it's a good choice if you're trying to save money. It's really just a place to leave your things, head out, then come back to shower and sleep. There's no TV or minibar, and breakfast is reasonable.

It's right on the seafront, close to the lighthouse, and the street is quiet. The place is very simple and has plenty of drawbacks, but at such a low price it feels well worth it. If you don't need anything fancy, it's a great deal.

I didn't stay at this hotel, but I did visit its small restaurant. The food quality was just okay, and the service left something to be desired, so I wouldn't recommend it.
