Our host was caring, funny, and amazing, and made it easy to find our way around the city. The staff were attentive and wonderful, and breakfast is provided in the morning. We could walk to the beach and Salvador waterfront, so the location was perfect. I highly recommend staying here in Salvador.

The air conditioning worked really well, and the bathroom and washing facilities were good. The rest of the room was a letdown. The pillows were lumpy, so I didn't get a decent night's sleep, and there were so many beds that I couldn't open the balcony doors. There wasn't a kettle, tea making setup, or a chair and table on the balcony. The fridge was cold, at least, but looked like it came from a car boot sale and didn't fit the room at all. I also couldn't open most of the drawers because the mirror was fixed in front of them, and the plug sockets need replacing. The owner had exaggerated how comfortable the place was. It was an awful experience. Would I recommend it or stay again? No.

Casa Inglesa was a great place to stay in Salvador, and I loved it. It was recently renovated, comfortable, and a terrific price, with a great location near the beach. I speak English but not Portuguese, and having someone on site to help me navigate the trip was priceless. The language barrier can be a problem since not many people here speak English. The owner, Niel, was a wonderful host. I'd choose this over an Airbnb, and I don't say that lightly.

The breakfast was really good, with fruit, cake, coffee, and other tasty Brazilian breakfast foods. The kitchen is simple and clean, and, as is usual in Brazil, it serves breakfast. The room was as clean as possible, with a nice bed, air conditioning, and a perfect shower and bathroom. The location is right across from the beach, but far enough from the noisy street. It's pet friendly for dogs, and we had fun with a cute dog belonging to another guest. Henrique welcomed me and my wife with care and attention, and the owner is a charming man. The employees were polite, easygoing, and fun. It wasn't expensive for what it offers. The downside during my stay was a bad smell coming from the street or a neighbor, and there was nothing we could do to fix it.

Neil and his crew are such warm-hearted people. The place feels like home, and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.
