Hotel Fasano Salvador

This happened during our honeymoon. An explosion displaced guests from a nearby hotel, and Fasano told us they could put us up for the night. We waited in the lobby for our room, but white guests who arrived after us were given rooms while we were left waiting. Then, despite having already been promised one, we were told there was no room for us. The pregnant receptionist showed no empathy and didn’t apologize. At 11 p.m. I had to carry our bags to another hotel and fend for myself. I believe we were treated this way because we’re Black. Stay away from Fasano if you’re Black. The restaurant service was also painfully slow: with very few guests there, I waited an hour for my food and drinks. I would never recommend this location. If you don’t pass the paper bag test, don’t bother with Fasaon; it’s not for Black people.

This was our third visit, and our best one yet. The service and food were the highlights, and I’ll write a separate review for Gero. Matheus at the concierge and Gerrard at the pool went out of their way to make sure we had what we wanted, even with a demanding guest like me. The hotel is right in the heart of the city, in a historic building with modern finishes. We’ll definitely return.

Joao the manager and Brito the Chef are amazing people. My husband and I will definitely return. The hotel has a beautiful view of Baia de todos os Santos, and the sunset is absolutely stunning.

I’ve been a customer of Fasano Hotel and Gero restaurants since they opened in São Paulo 20 years ago. It was really lovely to return with my family after a long time and find the same standard of design, food, and service. Breakfast here is excellent, and the rooftop pool is wonderful. I also want to give special credit to ESAEL, the manager at Gero that evening. We had a small issue, and he handled it with real care and class, making us happy in many different ways despite the rough start. I really appreciated what he did. We’ll be back. If you can, you should stay at Fasano Salvador, Rio, or SP. Consistent quality is hard to find, and they have it.
