Hostel Itapua

I paid for seven days but stayed only three nights, and I’m asking for a refund for the other four. The place was very dirty. I have a video of bugs crawling on my clothes, and I got sick with red pimples covering my body. I had to buy medicine and told the owner I couldn’t stay there without getting sicker, so I wanted to move somewhere else that day and get the money back for the four days left. He drank beer with a friend all night. When I told him I was leaving, he became very aggressive, took a big knife, and swung it in the doorway. His Argentinian friend was also drunk, holding a metal bar and wanting to fight me. I was attacked inside the hostel. I called the police, and we went to the police station and filed reports. I have the police report and proof of payment, and I can send them. I reported what happened to booking and asked them to investigate and delist the property from the app for future guests. This property should be closed by booking.

The rooms are basic, and I was charged 80 reais even though I’d been told 60 on the phone. The woman at check-in didn’t speak English.

Good value, a comfortable place, and the staff were friendly.

It’s close to the beach and airport, and the price is great. It did get a bit hot.
